General Project Contracting Model Study Based On Supply Chain Management Strategy

In the wake of economic and social development，construction projects has beenlarger and more complicated. Conventional mode of construction management thatdesign,procurement and construction are devided has been more and more difficult tosurvive in the increasingly fiece competition. To cope with the dynamic buildingmarket environment, engineering general contracting construction management modeis becoming the inevitablechoice.Nowadays,general contracting has becomingdominating stream with so many years’ expansion.In the view of construction general contracting enterprise, supply chainmanagement theory,which is mature enough to be applied in the manufacturing, isapplied in the construction general contracting project in this research. Though theapplication of supply chain management is deeper and more widespread inmanufacturing than construction, a lot of similarities are existed especially inengineering general contracting project in which the characteristic of a cleardivision of labor is reserved and a full play of the advantages of the enterprise isgiven,such as both of them being a multi-stage process with multipleparticipants.Consequently, it is feasible to apply supply chain management inconstruction.With the implementation of supply chain management,the internalrelationship and the relationship between the competitors in conventionalconstruction enterprise will be replaced by strategic alliance relationship/long-termcooperation partnership. Under these circumstances,faster response to dynamicmarket demands,lower operational costs,better competitiveness of the wholesupply chain and finally superior building enterprise core competitiveness will beachieved through series of strategic cooperation of sharing resources such asinformation and opportunities between the members of the supply chain.Coordinationof the members of supply chain of construction will benefit the effective projectmanagement and help the domestic construction enterprises find a reasonable solutionin the construction project management reform.
