The continuing losses of the thermal power enterprises in recent years, lead to reluctance to expand their production, some enterprises even suspend part of the production. It’s the most important reason for frequent electricity shortage. At the same time, the thermal power companies are still in the rapid expansion. What’s the real operating conditions of the thermal power enterprises?Whether the expanding thermal power enterprises made value?How。o help the struggling enterprises?There questions made it a realistic and urgent research topic that to correctly evaluate the thermal power enterprises’ performance, analyze the key factors affecting the performance and find improvement measures.On the basis of documentary research on the business performance evaluation at home and abroad, the paper introduced the Economic Value Added (EVA) to evaluate the performance of the thermal power business.Firstly, improved the calculation of EVA based on the nature of the power generation industry, then completed the measurement and evaluation of EVA of China’s18listed thermal power enterprise in2007-2011. Built a multiple linear regression model on the basis of documentary research, set a regression analysis of the historical financial data of the sample enterprises through SPSS18to identify the impact of factors on the thermal power enterprises’ EVA. Finally, made recommendations based on the results to help the development of thermal power enterprises.Through this study we found that there is no direct relationship between the performance of the thermal power enterprise and the scale of enterprises or the growth rate.To improve business performance and operational efficiency, we must avoid to the blind pursuit of growth rate and scale; strengthen internal management, reduce reducing the rate of cost; Optimize the capital structure to maintain a higher rate balance within a certain range to reduce the cost of capital rate; comprehensive application of the value of economic value added management system to keep the business Stable and efficient.
