The RMP Analysis Of Tiexi District Industrial Heritage Tourism Development

Industrial heritage tourism as a new kind of heritage tourism has been developing infull swing in the United Kingdom, Germany. However, it’s just in infancy stage for ourcountry. With the development of our economy, the contradiction between the urbantransformation and industrial heritage protection is getting more serious. Whetherdismantling the industrial buildings or re-using them on the basis of protection to developtourism has become an important issue during the process of urban transformation. Asthe old industrial bases in Northeast region, Shenyang also faces this problem. TiexiDistrict was famous as the "China Ruhr" during the New China planned economy period,as well as the important heavy industry and equipment manufacturing base. Tiexi Districtis rich in industrial heritage and remains, including the industrial city layout, industrialenterprises clusters and worker’s living areas. They has a very high value of tourismdeveloping, since their keeping much of the historical memory of Shenyang, reflectingthe entrepreneurial development of old industrial bases and cultural changes in thehistorical process of transformation.This thesis is based on referencing to a large number of domestic and foreign adocument and on-the-spot investigation on the industrial heritage of the Tiexi District.First, overview and summarize the basic concept and related theories of industrialheritage tourism. Then on the basic of actual situation of Shenyang, make my analysisand recommendations on industrial Heritage Protection and Development by using theRMP analysis theory. Tourism product development needs to follow “resources-market" counterpoint research result, and the RMP analysis tool provides the development oftourism products with actionable ideas. Thesis makes in-depth analysis on industrialheritage tourism "resources" and "market" at Tiexi district and gives developmentrecommendations to industrial heritage products like Museums, theme parks, recreation&business center. Hoping this thesis would bring some enlightenment on Tiexi industrialtourism and give other old industrial cities’ tourism development some reference.
