Communication management is generally regarded as a key factor for a successfulproject, especially for a cooperation project that involves cross-culture communication.With the world economy stepping into the era of globalization and diversification, moreand more companies break through territorial and culture boundaries, seeking for morechances of cooperation and development. As a long-term friendly neighbor and animportant trade partner of China, Pakistan has become a hot choice of investments andtrades of many Chinese companies. Meanwhile, conflicts also arise in thecommunication management between companies of these two countries, to a greatextent due to Chinese companies’ limited understanding of the situation in Pakistan, itsMuslim culture in particular. How to improve the cross-culture management in thecooperation project is not only an urgent problem which Chinese companies have toface, but also the focus of recent discussion among the business and academic circles.This thesis is to investigate on effective ways to carry out cross-culturecommunication between Chinese companies and Pakistan companies. Chapter Onedescribes research background, research theme, research aim and the adopted thoughtsand methods. Chapter Two reviews relevant theories, mainly on project management,communication management and cross-culture communication management, whichform the theoretical basis for this thesis. Chapter Three is an introduction and analysisof JZ company’s cross-culture communication management in the A systemco-production project. Comparative analysis approach is adopted to analyze theimportant differences in religion, language, thinking patterns, time sense and hierarchy.Barriers caused by these important differences are studied in terms of cognition, values,language and communication style, aiming at finding effective measures to remove thebarriers. In Chapter Four, the A system co-production project is used as an example toillustrate how to find applicable measures for cross-culture communication undercertain conditions. Finally, the conclusion made in Chapter Five points out theimportance of accurately recognizing culture differences and taking effective measures,such as building common values, improving communication skills and founding common management organizations. The precious experience from the A systemco-production project reveals that cultural awareness and the ability to form and carriedout corresponding strategies are the key points leading to smooth project management.
