By far, countries which are at the forefront of the development of pharmaceutical industry like America, Germany, Japan and India all regard the enterprise as their principal part in the innovation system of pharmaceutical industry. Let pharmaceutical enterprises develop into the main part of sectoral innovation system is a requirement and a trend in the developing process of pharmaceutical industry. Faced with increasingly fierce global competition and unpredictable economic development situation, more and more pharmaceutical enterprises choose industrial transformation as a way to seek for enterprise resurgence or an important method or a strategy of realizing sustainable growth. But all of these are closely related with the personnel’s creativity in pharmaceutical enterprises. Creativity is an eternal theme of enterprise development, while creativity is a starting point of innovation and provides the basis for innovation (Scott,1995). How to promote the personnel’s creativity is more and more highly valued by theoretical circle and business circle, while a leader’s behavior is a key factor in substantially influencing the personnel’s creativity.There are lots of researches on the personnel’s creativity abroad, while domestic researches are just starting. There are already many scholars at home and abroad who have studied the influence of direct leadership, transactional leadership, transformational leadership to the personnel’s creativity and their action mechanisms from many different aspects, while as an emerging issue, researches on the action mechanism of authorized leadership have just started, and the research outputs are few.This research examines how empowering leadership influences employee creativity. Focusing on the above issues, this study selects psychological empowerment, intrinsic motivation and psychological engagement as mediator variables, studies employees in pharmaceutical enterprises.Along the logical path of "empowering leadershipâ†'mentationâ†'employee creativity", and based on previous theoretical and empirical research, we developed a theoretical model to explain the ways by which empowering leadership, psychological empowerment, intrinsic motivation and psychological engagement influences employee creativity. Through an analysis of the date gathered from16listed pharmaceutical enterprises in ZheJiang Province, we tested our hypotheses and arrived the following several results.(1) Empowering leadership has significant positive impact on employee creativity through the mediation of mentation variables.(2) Psychological empowerment, intrinsic motivation and psychological engagement has significant positive impact on employee creativity.The finding from this research deepen our understanding regarding to how the empowering leadership influences employee creativity. Specifically, the research has the following several contributions.(1) Theoretical significance. Learning from foreign research,we study the mechanism of empowering leadership on employee creativity in the Chinese context. On the basis of previous studies, we build, verity the new role path. At last, our research has some modest contribution to enrich the domestic scarce empowering leadership theory.(2) Practical significance. Conducting empirical research based pharmaceutical enterprises, we have a better understanding of the average level of employee creativity and the effectiveness of empowering leadership in the current ZheJiang listed pharmaceutical enterprises.The result can provide an empirical basis for corporate leadership selection and improve employee creativity.
