Study On Hu Jintao’s Thought Of Regional Coordinated Development

A stage problem in the course of China’s socialist modernization is the uneven and imbalanced development between regions, which, at the same time, also affects China’s socialist modernization and construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects substantially. Therefore, the urgent problem now is to find a way to narrow the gap of development between regions. Some valuable thoughts have been formed through the active exploration and experiences on this issue by the previous leaders of Central Party and PRC.In this paper, the author mainly studies Comrade Hu Jintao’s idea of coordinated development between regions, including comprehensive discussion on its formation, main content and significance.To begin with, Marx-Engels’ theory of social development, the coordinated development of the national economy in Lenin’s theory, Chinese regional coordinated development thoughts brought forward by three generations of the Communist Party’s leaders talked about, which are mainly regarded as the theoretical foundation. Then, a systematic and comprehensive analysis on the prerequisite of forming Hu’s thoughts is made through several aspects such as the external and internal background, Hu’s political experiences and the challenges facing China, etc,followed by the description of the thoughts’ incubation, formation and development. After discussing the relationship between regional coordinated development thought and the scientific outlook on development, the author focuses on the main content of Hu’s thought, including the idea of taking into full account the overall interest of the whole country on grade development and overall coordination, idea of regional revitalization on function orientation and upgrading development, idea of urban community development on balancing urban and rural development and integration of point and sphere, idea of construction of functional regions on environmental protection and human-environment coordination, etc. Meanwhile, the three distinctive features are summarized as "Emphasis on the regional comprehensive development, put the development of innovative to an importance place, paying more attention to the sustainability of regional development." In the end, the author states the significance of Hu’s thought both in theory and practice. The paper is expected to make people further recognize the important theoretical meaning and practical contribution of his thought by systematically and comprehensively summarizing Hu Jintao’s coordinated regional development ideas, and to see it as a guideline and escort for the balanced development between regions and construction of a moderately prosperous society.Under the guidance of Hu Jintao’s thought on regional coordinated development, the vitality of regional development is further stimulated, and the distinctive economic function areas vie to develop, It is foreseeable that all of these will absolutely lead to fulfill the goal of national unity and stability and of common prosperity very soon.
