Research on regional coordinated development is of great importance in regional economic. Regional economic development has obvious regional characteristics, which is especially outstanding in China. Due to endowments differences of natural conditions, natural resources, capital, labor, institutional and cultural factor, there are uneven economic and social developments between the three regions, provinces, urban and rural areas. Sustainable development and scientific development are the "mainstream" pursuit of development, regional coordinated development has aroused wide concern.Starting from the connotation and theoretical basis of regional coordinated development, combining with the related theories of sustainable development, man-land relationship theory, labour division theory, regional evolution theory, externality theory and game theory, this thesis discusses the connation and characteristics of regional coordinated development, divides the development phrases. Meanwhile, the institutional problems facing by regional coordinated development and how to build mechanisms of regional coordinated development are analysed in this thesis. From the point of Major Function Oriented Zoning(MFOZ), the author analyses the regional problems caused by the division of economic and ecological, predicts the regional coordinated functions of MFOZ, announces the difficulties of regional coordination. Taking Liaoning as an example, regional development compatibility is evaluated by qualitative and quantitative analysis. This thesis probes into the existing problems of regional development in Liaoning province, discusses the coordinated difficulties and mechanisms of Liaoning province based on MFOZ.This thesis is divided into 5chapters:ChapterⅠis a discussion of the connotation and characteristics of regional coordinated development, division of coordinated development phrases based on economic development level, and a summarization of related theories.ChapterⅡis the mechanism construction of regional coordinated development. In this part, the author elaborates the relationship and evolution of economic system and ecological system, assumes that it is a hard choice between economy and ecology. Then analyses regional economic association and ecological environment influence and Regional relationship forms. we should insist on Justice, Coorperation, Resource Conservation and Environmentally Friendly principles. Then, a coordinated development mechanism is built up by phases based on analyses of market mechanism and government’s macroeconomic control.ChapterⅢstresses research MFOZ and regional coordinated development. Review MFOZ’s proposition background, connotation, function mechanism and policy guidance. Researched the regional problem triggered by the division based on ecological and economic. Analyzed the regional coordination function of MFOZ, and pointed out the difficulty of regional coordinated development under MFOZ.Chapter IV dialyses the issue of regional development in Liaoning province. Analyzed the characteristics of regional development in Liaoning province, obtaining that regional competitiveness is significant differences in Liaoning Province, the regional spatial structure "dual core " polarization obvious; further analyzed the problems of regional development and the spatial consistency of population and economic.Chapter V stresses research regional coordinated development of Liaoning province from the perspective of MFOZ. This thesis analyzes development difficulty of four kinds MFOZ and coordination difficulties by using predecessor regionalization for reference, Proposes the regional coordinated development mechanism.
