The hotel industry is a labor-intensive industry,a sufficient number of high-qualityworkforce is the key to the hotel industry that can gain a competitive advantage.Withthe development of tourism in Jinan City,the hotel industry has also entered the fasttrack of development.The hotel industry requires a lot of good employees,but thecurrent situation,the labor shortage problem of star-hotel highlights in Jinan City.Itscurrent situation is not optimistic,mainly in the following facts: First,in the hotelindustry,labor supply doesn’t meet demand;Second,lack of complex high-qualitytalents;Three,the hotel professional staff is very less;Four, foreign language of most ofthe employees is not good.Labor shortage of star-hotel in Jinan City is the direct response of hotel employeesand job seekers to the dissatisfaction of the hotel industry,and is the performance ofpoor management of the hotel industry,but is also an early warning signal of the lackof stability and good development prospects.The main adverse effects as followings:increasing of hotel operating costs,weaking the competitiveness of the hotel industry;reducing the quality of service and customer satisfaction,affecting the image of thehotel industry;affecting staff morale and the tourism industry development in JinanCity.As the shortage of labor of Star-hotel in Jinan City,there are mainly tworeasons.Internally,the turn-over rate of staff is very high;Externally, social job seekersdo not want work in the hotel.In this paper,respectively,for the hotel employees andjob seekers designed two sets of questionnaires,and conducted a survey and madeSPSS statistical analysis,draw up the conclusion that the specific factors of the laborshortage of star hotels as followings:First,level the of Salary and benefit is generallylow.Second,the space of Career development is limited;Third,Work pressure is verygreat.Fourth,social status of Employee is not high;Fifth, Occupation is not stable.Based on the results of research,this paper puts forward the part of effectivemanagement measures.First, improving employees’ salary and benefits;Increasing instaff development space;Reducing the pressure on staff;Improving the social status ofemployee;Improving the stability of the occupation of the hotel industry employees.Due to the time and funds for research, the paper only selects the ten relativestar-hotel to invest,so has certain effect for its general and universality.In the end,itpoints out deficiency and the further research in the end of paper.
