With the rapid development of technology and globalization, the order of Chinese market is deeply improved. There are more and more links between them and the international market. In this trend, more and more Chinese enterprises have to cope with the threat and competition from domestic and abroad. If enterprises want to seek survival and development in the fierce of competition, it is necessary for them to enhance the concern for employees. Employees are always looked as the most important source of business development, the level of their quality plays a crucial role in the future development of enterprises. According to China’s national contexts, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are important driving force for the development of our national economy, but due to the limitations of their own size, business projects, organizational structure and other aspects, SMEs are coping with greater external threats. In order to better respond to the threats, small and medium enterprises should strengthen their internal management and personnel, and continuously improve the level of quality of their staff.This study aims to explore the effects of the high-performance work system applications in the small and medium-sized enterprises to enhance the employability of staff. Specially, weselect Taizhou CNOOC Gas Company as the case enterprise to further explore the application of high-performance work systems, as well as its relationship with the level of employability of employees. According to the practices in high-performance work systems, we make comments and suggestions to further improve the part been well done or not, and those suggestions will provide reference for other small and medium-sized enterprises in Chinato improve the internal management and qualified personnel development.
