The financial sector plays a big role in the process of China’s rapid economicdevelopment since the reform and opening up policy, it has been dominated by thecentral position of the national economic growth. Commercial banks are the main partof the financial industry, it has promoted our national economy development, therapid, healthy and sustainable development. As China’s financial industry is graduallyopening to the outside world, the Commercial Bank of our country and foreign bankwill face to face compete, admittedly, the most important in this competition is thecompetition of talents. Performance evaluation and incentive mechanism have beentreated as the core of the modern commercial bank’s internal management control. Toestablish a performance appraisal system for their own operational management ofcommercial banks is not only urgent but also challenge. The Commercial Bank of ourcountry has made some achievements in terms of performance management in recentyears, but overall, most of the two branches of the bank still executive theperformance assessment tasks of the head office, not explore their own distinctiveperformance appraisal system.This thesis has taken the CS Branch Bank of Industrial Bank as the researchobject. Drawing on the study of the theoretical results and practical experience fromdomestic and foreign experts and scholars, under the guidance of meticulousmanagement theory, human capital theory, management incentive theory, I analyzedthe reasons of the CS branch current performance appraisal program and thenre-design the performance appraisal program for CS branch. This new program for CSbranch is based on its own characteristics and can adapt to the rapidly changingmarket environment. The program which included the design of Key PerformanceIndicators, the indicators evaluation criteria and performance results of the use ofsystem can motivate employees, improve employee enthusiasm and initiative,improve the performance of CS Branch Bank business, can also achieve its long-termstrategic development goals. What is more, in order to ensure the efficient implementation of the new program, the paper presents the related safeguards,including to improve the organization and management system, strengthen thebuilding of the workforce, establish information management system, the protectionof the financial resources and high-level managers. Finally, I wish that the CS BranchBank could achieve its strategic development goals by a fine performance appraisal,at the same time I hope this paper would provide some advices for other parts of thecommercial banks.
