Development of construction industry, an essential industrial sector of nationaleconomy, is an important part of China government’s macro-control measures,meanwhile plays a significant role in national economy. Recent10years, China’sconstruction industry develops at high speed and faces internationalization, therefore,itsdevelopment direction and internationalization strategy have become hot topic since21stcentury. Although number of China’s construction industry enterprises growsgradually, the efficiency and technology of the industry are very low; especially laborproductivity is extremely low, which doesn’t fit the industry scale and impairsinternational competitiveness of construction industry. Thus, topic on how to improveconstruction industry labor productivity is to the point of the development. The papercarries on a study on construction industry labor productivity, which is based onfundamental information of construction industry, combined with academy andmathematical statistics.The paper first takes use of relevant data from statistic websites, then goes on aquantitative analysis, from various perspectives, on current situation of constructionindustry labor productivity by Excel. It mainly includes overall development ofconstruction industry in recent10years, comparisons with8developed countries and4major industries, inter-comparison within China’s34provinces. By means ofacquisition of plenty of document study, obtain impact factors to construction industrylabor productivity——human resource, material input, operating capability and outsideenvironment, then combined with theoretic and empirical analysis, build up structuralequation model on construction industry labor productivity by SPSS and Amos.Analysis on current situation of construction industry labor productivity shows thatthe labor productivity is less than one thirds of that in developed countries and otherindustries, which is low in general, though it always grows in recent10years. Relationmodel of impact factor indicates that4factors do, directly or indirectly affect laborproductivity of enterprises positively, and operating capability makes most contribution,while employee satisfaction should be paid more attention by enterprises. Finally, in view of current situation of construction industry labor productivity, the paper, inconsideration of impact factors, goes deep into reasons which lead to current situation;beyond this, the paper put forward proposals for construction industry enterprises andrelated government departments from perspective of human resource, projectmanagement, technology management and government control.
