There is a growing awareness in both academic and practical field that individual creativebehavior is of great significance for a company’s progress and sustainable development.And how to motivate and facilitate employee’s creative behavior with appropriate methodis a crucial issue for us to explore. As the general method to motivate employee,compensation may have important influence on employee’s behavior. Therefore,exploring the relationship between variable payment strength and individual creativebehavior and the moderation mechanism is becoming an essential research topic. In thiscontext this study tries to explore the relationship between variable payment strength andindividual creative behavior based on workplace settings. Meanwhile we take statuscompetitive motivation and creative self-efficiency as important moderators, and attemptto discuss the moderation mechanism of relationship between variable payment strengthand individual creative behavior.This thesis is composed of seven chapters. Chapter1is about Introduction, mainly tells ussomething about the research background, framework, value and so on. Chapter2is aboutLiterature Review. We will make a review and sort with some extant studies in aparticular vein, which are relevant to the topic of direct relationships between variablepayment strength and individual creative behavior, and their moderation mechanisms.Chapter3, Model and Hypothesis, presents the process of hypothesis reasoning in theory.Chapter4is about Study design and Data Collection. In this chapter, we will introduce theprocess of conducting our field study, variable measuring, data purring and the analysis ofreliability and validity. Chapter5is about Data analysis and Results. A data analysis fromthe sample of186employees in various industries shows us that:(1) There is a curvilinearor reversed U-shape relationship between variable payment strength and employeecreative behavior;(2) Neither status competitive motivation or creative self-efficiencyplays a moderation role of the relationship between variable payment strength andemployee creative behavior;(3) There is a three-way interaction between variablepayment strength, status competitive motivation and creative self-efficiency in theprediction of individual creative behavior. Chapter6is about Discussion, we will extent and enrich our research results in theory. The last chapter, Chapter7, is about Conclusion,Contribution and Future Direction. In this part, we will summary the main conclusion, putforward with both theoretical contribution and practical implication, indicate somelimitations and future research directions.
