The practice that regional economic cooperation in the domestic and abroad hasproved: strengthening regional economic cooperation is not only an effective way fordeveloped countries and regions to sustained and rapid development, but also the onlyway for less developed countries and regions to achieve leapfrog development. Provincialborder regions are less developed regions, which are the "bottleneck" in inter-regionalcooperation. How to get rid of this "bottleneck" is the key to realize coordinated regionaleconomic development through strengthening regional cooperation. Regarding regionaleconomic integration about border regions of Jin-Ji-Meng as a research object, this paperaims to explore the theory and practice of the provincial border regions in regionaleconomic cooperation. After summarizing the research on regional economic integrationin the domestic and abroad, on the basis outlined related issues about theory and practicesuch as meaning scope, cooperation on the border area of Jin-Ji-Meng using acombination of theoretical analysis and empirical research and comparative analysis.This article has investigated the problem about the border area of Jin-Ji-Meng toachieveregional economic integration. Because the region has close interpersonal contact in thehistory, and has important regional characteristics in the same geographical unit, there arehighly complementary in resources, industrial structure and transportation infrastructure,having certain conditions for the development of regional economic integration. However,due to the level of economic development, institutions, ideas, infrastructure and otherconstraints, to achieve regional economic integration can only be a gradual process.Finally, this article has proposed four aspects of countermeasures, including first, atthis stage, achieving regional economic integration should give full play to the role oflocal government; second, building integration of organization and coordination ofagencies; third, to cultivate and improve regional community market; forth, establishingthe priority areas of regional economic cooperation.
