The food as the most basic material conditions of human survival anddevelopment, is an important role of promoting the economic development andnational, ethnic unity and social stability. Cultivated land is the carrier of foodproduction, which quantity and quality is closely related to national food security. Theprotection to cultivated land is the guarantee of food security in China.Yunnan is the one of typical mountainous area of southwest borderlandprovinces in our country. Unique to geomorphology features determines the landecological environment is very fragile and the area of suitable for cultivating’ land islimited. In recent years, the implementation of returning farmland to forest project, agriculture structure adjustment, surge of non-agriculturalization of farmlandoccupation, cultivated land loss caused by natural disasters, etc., led to quantity andquality reduction of cultivated land and further sharp contradiction between supplyand demand of cultivated land resources in Yunnan.Traditionally, to solve the problem of the shortage of cultivated land resource, relies mainly on administrative and engineering technology, etc. In this paper, westudy the virtual farmland strategy which is expected from the social attribute ofcultivated land resources in China, combining with the new historical conditions, introducing market mechanism to realize reasonable allocation and sustainableutilization of cultivated land resource, to achieve effective protection of cultivatedland, safeguard food security in the border areas ultimately. for promote themountainous provinces of cultivated land resource optimal allocation and utilizationunder the new situation provide a new train of thought. In this paper, we start from the connotation of the virtual farmland strategy. Theimplementation of the strategy of virtual farmland in Yunnan province has made thecorresponding research. The results show that:(1) From virtual farmland content analysis of four kinds of main agricultural products in Yunnan province, the differences of virtual content of cultivated land ofthe four kinds of main agricultural products is obvious. The, highest level of virtualarable land is soybean. The following is wheat and corn. The lowest is rice.(2) According to the reality of virtual land trade analysis, virtual farmlandimports of main agricultural products in Yunnan province generally appear relativelysubstantially rise. Exports have decreasing trend on the whole. Corn is the mainimported product of the current virtual land trade of agricultural products in Yunnan. In terms of export, wheat and rice are dominant.(3) From virtual farmland trade comparative advantage analysis in Yunnan, compared with the Hubei of major grain-producing areas, Yunnan has the opportunitycost of comparative advantage in the virtual land of soybean, and at a comparativedisadvantage in rice products in agricultural production cost,. Compared with theeconomically developed Guangdong province, rice products in Yunnan has theopportunity cost of comparative advantage, and at a comparative disadvantage inwheat, soybeans and corn. In terms of the market competitiveness of agriculturalproducts trade, rice, corn, soybeans, three kinds of agricultural products of Yunnanin the trade competition index respectively are0.42,0.62and0.38on average. Thatseveral kinds of agricultural products are in the disadvantage in the virtual land tradecompetition, Yunnan province belongs to the virtual net import cultivated inprovinces.(4) Yunnan province virtual farmland strategy dominance exists obvious spacedifference, east high and west low, south high, north low. Cultivated land resourcessupply is most of the city a total of virtual strategic dominance main contributionfactors, to ensure the effective supply of the cultivated land resources is the maincondition of improving virtual farmland strategy dominance. In the state of cultivatedland resource supply dominant, land reclamation rate is common to most of the citythe contribution of the highest impact factor; Social factors leading regional virtualfarmland strategy dominance are more easily affected by urbanization rate andpopulation density.
