Low-carbon Development Evaluation Of Beijing’s Hotel

Global warming has become a hot issue from all walks of life. With the rapiddevelopment of industrialization and economy, greenhouse gas emissions increase, so it isurgent to deal with environmental crisis from reducing the excessive consumption of energyto decrease carbon dioxide emissions. Our country has made many efforts in addressingclimate change, and as a binding target, reducing carbon dioxide emissions has beenincorporated into long-term planning of the national economy and social development.With the “low-carbon economy” proposed, as well as the national policy guidance, thedevelopment of low-carbon industries will be gradually introduced to the respective operatingproduction, and the carbon emissions is regarded as an important indicators about sustainable,low-carbon and environmental protection. Hotel industry is a high carbon industry. Onaverage, a hotel discharges4000tons carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere for a year,so the huge energy consumption directly affects our country macro-economic goals.Therefore, it is imperative to develop low carbon of the hotels.Based on “low-carbon economy” as guidance, this paper generalizes the background andresearch significance and sums up a set of evaluation index system for hotels low carbonation.The core of the index system is sustainable development, which is composed of carbonemissions, low carbon management, low carbon guidance, carbon sequestration, low-carbontechnologies and refines19specific evaluation indexes. This system tries to reflect the levelof low carbon development of hotels, and provide some references for making future policy.AHP is adopted as an evaluation method, inviting experts to determine the weight of eachindex, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, making the evaluation more scientific.Selecting several representative hotels of Beijing make empirical analysis, and combine withindicators to analyze low carbon level of the hotels. Finally, we should make somecountermeasures and suggestions to common hotels toward low carbon development.
