Total factor productivity is the increase of output driven by other factors after removing labor and capital, which is reflected by the increase of output derived from the improvement of various resources’developing and utilizing efficiency, it can be divided into those brought by technical progress and efficiency gains. As fundamental industry, agriculture plays an essential role in guarantying our national basic living standard and social stability. Basic factors for developing agriculture include land and labor, with the heighten of China’s economical standard, input into agriculture keeps growing day by day, but it is also unnegligible that we should not exceed the limitation of natural talent, at the same time, China’s innate features, like large population and scarce land area per capita also restrict the development of agriculture. As a result, how to change agricultural developmental mode, enhance both quality and efficiency of agricultural production, and promote continuous improvement of it relying on technical progress and advance of resource efficiency is the fundamental route which is suitable to China’s present modern agriculture.Based on reviewing historical documents and researches both at home and abroad, we collected our nation’s agricultural input and output data from2005to2009, computed total factor productivity through C-D production function and Malmqusit Index Method, and analyzed the changes and present situation of it. Besides, we made a division to total factor productivity through data envelopment analysis, and looked for main promotion which pushes the total factor productivity. What’s more, we further selected dynamic variables, set up TFP’s influential factors mode through dynamic panel data mode, and fully discuss the effect technical and financial input, change of agricultural population and economical structure have on agricultural total factor productivity. Main conclusions are as follows:First, from1995to2009, China’s TFP keeps an increasing state, but still varies as a result of policy and economical structure; second, there’s regional difference in TFP, it has the highest level in eastern region, followed by central and western region; third, increase of China’s agricultural TFP is promoted by both technical efficiency and technical progress, among which technical progress contributes more; fourth, by setting up influential factors mode, we can find that last year’s TFP is also an influential factor, at the same time, the effect financial support holds is large, and agricultural population reacts against TFP.
