Research Of Social Responsibility Information Disclosure And It’s Influencing Factors Of Listed Companies

BackgroundAs people’s economic condition and living standard improve continually, healthy diet has become a trend these days. But the frequently outbreak of major food safety incidents in Chinese market in recent years repeatedly test hundreds of millions of people’s nervous. The outbreak of the "melamine" event in2008,6244cases of infants and young children suffer from severe renal and urinary system diseases because of drinking San Lu infant formula. After that, some other serious food safety incidents occurred successively, for example, the poisonous tableware in2009, Shuang Hui clenbuterol events in2011and so on. The frequently outbreak of major food safety incidents are not only bad for people’s healthy but also threat Chinese politics and economy.In such a situation, the food safety information disclosure has been incorporated in the academic research scope. But research in our country is still in infancy, on one hand, the reason is that most of the domestic research is to draw lessons from foreign research results; On the other hand, because the domestic research on the disclosure framework, theory to practice, influencing factors still exists much differences and defects.There still exist many problems of the current food safety information disclosure in our country, both from ways of disclosure, disclosure of the contents and levels of disclosure. This study make the food and beverage industry listed companies as an example, through reading the256annual reports, analysis the influence factors affecting the quality of food safety information disclosure of public companies of food and beverage industries. So, this research of food safety information disclosure has a double meaning of theory and reality.PurposeMain purpose of this study:(1) Make the food safety events which attracts special attention this years as the breakthrough point; elaborate the present situation of food safety information disclosure of public companies and explore the influencing factors of food safety information disclosure of public companies by reading annual report, China economic news channel; put forward with strong feasibility decision support for improving the quality of the food safety information disclosure of public companies of food and beverage industry in China;(2)find the index P by the content analysis method; creatively conclude government supervision, social supervision and geographic location into the factors which influence the food safety information disclosure; find the food safety information disclosure quality of P value;Main ContentEach chapter’s main content is settled as below:Chapter1:introduction. This chapter introduces the research background, research significance, research contents, and also illustrates the research framework.Chapter2:literature review. This chapter studies the research of food safety information disclosure status, disclosure of the contents, influence factors from foreign and domestic two aspects; provide support for the following variables.Chapter3:theoretical basis. This chapter first defines some words about food safety information disclosure; then expounds the guidance of the external pressure theory, legitimacy theory, impression management theory, information asymmetry theory, stakeholder theory to the food safety information disclosure.Chapter4:status analysis. Specifically, this chapter will firstly sums up the status of food safety information disclosure of our country in the aspect of legal system; Then according to the data collected by the annual report in this paper, study the present status of food safety information disclosure of public companies; and finally analysis the main problems of food safety information disclosure.Chapter5:empirical research and analysis. This chapter is the core of the paper. Firstly put forward the three research hypotheses about the relationship between food safety information disclosure and government supervision, media supervision, the geographical location according to the above theoretical basis and status analysis. And then, design a food safety information disclosure quality evaluation index, and based on the evaluation method, give the food safety information disclosure level score of the sample companies. And also design the empirical model of this research with following explanation of the explained variables, control variables and explanatory variables. Design the determine sample source and the samples, in order to analysis the correlation between government regulation and food safety information disclosure, this paper will select64enterprises of food and beverage industries which continue as a going concern from2008to2011as sample. The data of asset scale come from the database of CSMAR, property right structure and the location data come from corporate annual reports of listed companies, the data of media reports come from China economic news library collection which collects thousands of newspapers and magazines across the country about the food and beverage industry food safety of listed companies. Finally, this chapter tests the relationship between the quality of food safety information disclosure and the three variables logically.Chapter6:conclusions and policy analysis. Based on the above empirical analysis of the relationship between the government supervision, media supervision, geographical position and the quality of food safety information disclosure, put forward a serious of feasible suggestions. Finally, points out the research limitations and further research direction.ConclusionThe conclusions is that:(1) the food safety information disclosure of food and beverage industry in China listed companies overall level is not optimistic, but there is an upward trend;(2) there are significant positive relations between the government supervision, media supervision and the quality of food safety information disclosure;(3) the relations between the property rights, the geographical locations and the quality of food safety information disclosure is not significant.ContributionThe main contribution of this paper is in the following aspects:Make the food safety events which attract special attention by the society in recent years as the breakthrough point. This study combines academic research and social hot spots, reflected the close combination of theory with practice.Creatively conclude the external pressure to the factors which influence the quality of food safety information disclosure. Government supervision, media supervision and geographical location are rarely in the former research about the similar topic.
