With the development of tourism has gradually become a popular way of life, tourism industry has also obtained the rapid development. At present it has become the twenty-first Century sunrise industry, and the international competition is more and more stronger. Therefore, the research on regional tourism competitiveness has become a heat of academic group.The scenic area is including the beautiful natural landscape, cultural landscape, excellent geographical entity. It has both typical and representative of the natural landscape, but also for retaining the precious historical and cultural sites. The Hengshan Mountain scenic spot, as China’s magnificent mountains and rivers of the essence of the representatives, as the gem of the Chinese nation, at the same time as the tourism development the important constituent, also is facing the stern competition problem. But so far, most of the scholars study of scenic area is still only from resource, protection and development, sustainable development and other aspects, study of tourism competitiveness is relatively less.In this paper, according to the existing theory of competitiveness, in considering the scenic area on the basis of the research, the integrated use of management science, tourism science, statistics and other subjects of knowledge, through a combination of theory and practice, qualitative and quantitative, statistical analysis and other research methods, taking Hengshan Mountain as an example, the scenic area competitive problem undertook comparative comprehensive and in-depth studies. First of all, an analysis of the current development of the tourism industry background and the research significance of tourism competition study, summed up the tourism competitive aspects of the related research results and describe the framework. Secondly, the tourism competition study related concepts and theoretical basis for the study of Hengshan Mountain tourism industry, competition mechanism to pave the way. Once again, through the SWOT analysis method and analysis of competitive model, the Hengshan Mountain scenic area are summarized, and the comprehensive analysis of Hengshan Mountain tourism advantages, disadvantages and challenges. Finally, put forward some of Hengshan Mountain’s tourism industry development strategy and countermeasures.
