This study conducted two empirical research through literature review, questionnaire survey and data statistics. The first research is to propose a measurable model of dynamic capabilities by linking the insights from both organizational capabilities and managerial cognition, and by operationalizing, and measuring dynamic capabilities. The second research is to open the black box of the antecedents of exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation by combining research on knowledge, capabilities and cognition. The study reached the following main conclusions:First, the dynamic capability is a multi-dimensional constructs, including sensing, resource cognition, resource adding, resource shedding and reconfiguration. Second, knowledge base is positively related to both operational capabilties and dynamic capabilites. Third, operational capabilities is positively related to exploitative innovation, and dynamic capabilties is positively related to both exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation. Fouth, knowledge base is positively related to both exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation. Fifth, organizational capabilities act as a mediating effect on the relationship between knowledge base and exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation. In details, operational capabilities mediate the relationship between knowledge base and exploitative innovation, while dynamic capabilities medate the relationship between knowledge and both type of innovation. Sixth, cognitive flexibility can positively moderate the relationship between organizational capabilities and innovation. The main theoretical contribution of this study are as follows:first, by drawing emerging insights from organizational capabilities and managerial cognition research.,we clarified the connotation and dimensions of dynamic capabilities and developed valid scales for measuring dynamic capabities. Second, we extend the antecedents of exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation by revealing the mediating effects of organizational capabities on the relationship between knowledge base and innovation. Third, cognitive flexibility is introduced into the management contexts and is found to moderate the relationship beteween capabilities and ambidextrous innovation. In addition, this study also provides some suggestions for manangers and future research.
