Research On Applications Of Good Agriculture Practices In Layer Duck Breeding Farms For Export In Fujian And Countermeasures

This research studied the application of good agriculture practices in13layer duck breedingfarms for export in Fujian. The implementation of good agriculture practices and the currentmanagement requires were compared and analysed in15aspects，74items：farm location，facility and equipment；staff health，safety and welfare；resource，labeling and traceability；feed and drinking water management；duck house，facility and breeding；health for layer duck；drug management；disposal of sick and dead duck；transportation and slaughter；drug residentmonitoring；emergence procedure；waste and contaminant management，recycling and reuse；environmental protection； power-use； ducumental quality managemang system..4aspectsconform to the requirement，and36problems in11aspects were found, among which32problems involved discrepancies between them,4problems involved imperfect implementationof current management requires. The results are as follows:,I. The discrepancies between the current management requires and the implementation ofgood agriculture practices involved mainly24major differences which accounted for66.7%, suchas preparing and perfecting management file and system, staff, health and welfare, environmentalprotection and waste management. Those differences are also common problems that farmsgrowing food or agricultural products for export face in China.II. Layer duck breeding farms for export have the conditions for the application of goodagriculture practices. The locations of layer duck breeding farms are reasonable. The managementof veterinary drug and duck feed are normative during the breeding. Most breeding farms neverdischarge waste water arbitrarily and avoid causing serious environmental pollution. To evaluatethe quality, health&safety of egg products for export in recent years, the cause of non-conforming products didn’t relate to improper or illegal use of veterinary drug or duck feed. Fromthe perspective of the future of our agricultural development, traceability for agricultural productshas been regarded as a more and more important job by governmental director branches. Andgood agriculture practices are an important way for traceability system. Through the ethos ofpushing ahead good agriculture practices of the management, it was found that the management ofsome breeding farms had realized that the key to enhancing the domestic market and internationalmarket share of duck eggs and their products was to adopt advanced management system toensure sustained qualification for the quality, health&safety of products.The essay put forward the proper strategies and suggestions on the implementation of goodagriculture practices aiming at the above-mentioned problems, viz. putting forward instructivemanagement requires, selecting the pilot range of enterprises, verifying the implementation, andsupport from the government and governmental director branches, etc. what is important is thatthe essay provides a guide for management system documentation and record of good agriculturepractices in layer duck breeding farms for export. The difficulties layer duck breeding farms oftenencounter in good agriculture practices are confusion about the intent of laws and regulations, andambiguity of requirements for wanted documentations and records, which may lead to failure toapply good agriculture practices. In this research, one of the countermeasures explored wasitemizing the documentation list and main contents of each document, the record list and maincontents of each list, the applicable list of laws and regulations that involved in managementsystem documentation and record of good agriculture practices. And good examples wereintroduced for some parts which are difficult to understand, such as environmental risk assessmentreports on breeding farms, requirement of animal welfare, and a management system which willhelp the implementation of good agriculture practices in layer duck breeding farms.
