The Chip industry is segmented as two major categories which are "Chip manufacture industry" and "Chip design industry". Till today, China’s chip manufacture industry has made great success, whilst China’s local chip design industry is still way behind the world’s leading companies. From the design capability perspective, China’s chip design companies have been very close the world leaders, but the operation management and operation strategy haven’t been considered as a key factor among China’s local chip design companies, but, is this right?This paper describes about how S company get successful out of failure by leveraging the operation strategy. S company’s top level management realize the key issue is the lack of operation strategy which led to the failure in the past, then the team sit together and come up with a right operation strategy after careful analysis based on our company level competition strategy. With the operation strategy, we optimized the product development process, outsourcing activity etc. The result is encouraging and we successfully delivered very good operation achievement and then come with the market success.Through the analysis of this paper, I think it reveal a fact that operation strategy apply not only in manufacture industry like chip manufactures, but also apply to chip design industry. The result will be very promising once the chip design companies implement and match their company level strategy with the right operation strategy. Hope this case could provide a good reference to other companies in our chip design industry.
