In recent years, with global economic integration, the rapid development of China’s auto industry. Auto parts companies got great growth, also faced more competition. They are have to more innovative R&D to improve the competition and growth. Innovative R&D co-existence of the risks and benefits, it will bring good benefits but also accompanied the big risk for company. The risk management will reduce the incidence and control the risks of project, reduce the loss caused by the risk. It is make sense for innovative R&D projects.In this paper, the touch panel of Company K was selected as a case to study the risk management of innovative R&D projects. K is a joint venture company, It has representative and typical on the automotive parts industry, So it’s issue of projects also exist in other Auto part company. The risks management of K for innovative R&D project was no good now. Normally, The technology, quality, cost, time of project will exceeding more than the target of project. The main reason of this is no risk management in the project, lack of awareness of risk management and lack of risk management professionals.The risk of the touch panel project is:technical, schedule, cost, quality, purchase, intellectual property right, etc. But the main risks is technical risk, it is will bring the other risks. In this paper, through risk planning, risk identification, risk assessment, risk control, risk monitoring on technical risks are discussed in detail of technical risk. It’s provide some methods for this case, such as:FMEA method, Delphi method, Subjective probability method, Brainstorming, There are not just for K Company, also a valuable reference for other auto parts innovative R&D projects.
