Study On The Regional Competitiveness Of China’s Tel-Industry

With the rapid development of Chines economic, Chinese telecommunication industry has made great progress, increasingly become an indispensable part of national economy and people’s life; But the difference between different regions on telecommunication industry is great. The unbalanced regional development of Telecommunication industry is bad for the improvement of the international competitiveness and playing the telecommunication industry on the basis of the economic development. In this paper, the competence of regional telecommunication industry is studied. First using the "Diamond Model" to establish the evaluation index system, and second use factor analysis method to get scores in different regions of the competence of telecommunication industry. Then the clustering analysis and convergence theory help study the variation trend in different classes. All of these are helpful to make specific suggestions to promote the competence of Chinese regional telecommunication industry, which is theoretical and practical.From the research, it shows:Firstly, as the basic industry, telecommunication industry makes a great function, but there is great gap among the31provinces, the east/middle/west area.Secondly, using the improved factor analysis method to analysis31provinces indexes from2003to2011shows:21indexes extract three common factors: competitive strength; competitive potential; competitive ability. Competitive strength makes the largest contribution, competitive potential next, competitive ability last.Thirdly, the score of competitive strength/competitive potential/competitive ability in31provinces show:competitive strength has positive correlation to competitiveness; competitive potential and competitive ability have negative correlation to competitiveness. The east area lists the first of the whole country; the middle area lists the second and the west area lists the last.Forth, the result of clustering analysis shows:according to the synthesis score W,31provinces are divided into five parts, which named strongest, stronger, strong, weak and weaker. The strong or weak of competitiveness has positive correlation to the development degree of economic.Fively, the convergence analysis of the synthesis score W shows:firstly, from year2003to year2011, the whole country does not show σ-divergence; the first-second area and the third area does not show obvious o-convergence; the forth area shows obvious σ-divergence; the fifth area shows obvious σ-convergence. Secondly, the whole country shows unobvious absolute-P-divergence; the third area shows obvious absolute-β-convergence; the other areas shows that is quite unobvious absolute-β-convergence. Thirdly, after adding regional population and regional GDP, the whole country and the four areas show convergence.The innovation point from the paper include:firstly, based on the "Diamond Model", combined with the characteristics of the Chinese regional telecommunication industry, establish the evaluation index system, and enrich the evaluation index system of Chinese telecommunication industry. Secondly, analysis panel data by the improved factor analysis method, objectively evaluate the level of competitiveness from year2003to year2011. Thirdly, make difference between discriminatory of the different areas, to study the variation trend of different area, coming up with otherness and specific suggestion.
