We defined Multi-team system as two or more teams that interface directly and interdependently in response to environmental contingencies towards the accomplishment of collective goals. MTS boundaries are defined by virtue of the fact that all teams within the system, while pursuing different proximal goals, share at least one common distal goal; and in doing so exhibit input, process and outcome interdependence with at least one other team in the system. As the change of business environment, multit-team systems have been born as a new form of organization, such teams as new product development teams,planning teams, and project teams play an important role in the daily operation of enterprises.Compared with single team, multi-team system is much closer to a temporary organization,in which memebers are all from different teams or departments with different professional backgrounds.Each member use his or her own skills to complete the nonroutine tasks. Due to the difference, the traditional team manage theory can not explain MTS well. As a result it’s essential to do the research on MTS collaboration process, it will be helpful to improve the effectiveness of multi-team system.In this research we investigate the members from new product development teams to test our hypotheses. First, we build the mechanism between MTS process and effectiveness based on the literature research. Secondly, we use exploratory case study to build the grounded theory that multi-team process affect the team effectiveness. Finally, we do the empirical tests with hierarchical regression model to discuss the relationship between each dimension of multi-team process and effectiveness.This study draw the following conclusions:(1) The multiteam process can be divided into three dimensions, transition process, interpersonal process and operation process, there are interaction relationship between each other;(2) Multiteam process affect team effectiveness. Acorrding to the result, most of the regression coefficients are significant;(3) Task interdependence have moderation effects on the relationship between several dimensions of multiteam process and effectiveness.
