The competitive edge of a certain Industrial cluster comes from its ability of generatingand releasing cluster effect, such effect is the source of the competitiveness of a industrialcluster as well as the foundation of the reasonability of its existence. The tense atmosphere ofcompetition and cooperation makes more professional and sophisticated division, lower costand faster technical innovation. Because of clusters’ remarkable industrial, regional and cyclernature, the competitive edge of industries which possess long industrial chains and prominentroundabout production can be rapidly improved by using clustering development.China is the biggest producer and consumer of motorcycles. After rapid increase in morethan ten years,China’s motorcycle industry has already been in the phase of falling andadjusting. In2011,China’s motorcycle sales volume reached26.93million,involving exportvolume of11.39million with a proportion of42.29%,8.29percentage points higher over theprevious year. In2012,China’s motorcycle sales volume reached23.76million,involvingexport volume of11.39million with a proportion of41.04%,1.25percentage points higherlower the previous year.Currently,China’s motorcycle export market is primarily concentrated in Asia,LatinAmerica,etc.. In the motorcycle market of these regions,Japanese brands such as Honda,Suzuki,Yamaha and Kawasaki constitute dominant competitors. As the Chinese motorcycleproduction technology is mainly introduced from Japan, domestic motorcycle manufacturersenjoy no technical advantage in the competition of the export market at all, chieflydependent on the price competition, which is obviously shown in the motorcycle markets ofVietnam,Indonesia,Brazil and other countries. In terms of the industrial pattern, the Chinese motorcycle industry characterizes not ahigh concentration degree, still accompanied by fierce market competition. In2011,top tenChinese producers accounted for a total of53.35%of the industry’s sales volume, whileJiangmen Dachangjiang Group Co.,Ltd. in the first position merely held an8.98%share. Dueto lack of core technologies for engine, competition in domestic motorcycle industry is morereflected in the price competition, leading to a low level of average profit margin at themoment. Against the background of sluggish domestic demand,in the next few years,Chinesemotorcycle industry will face a reshuffle and industrial integration is expected to speed up.
