With the continuous development of China’s socialist market economy, theposition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the national economicsystem continues to increase. However, due to the prevalence of SMEs operating withpoor management, low quality, imperfect financial system, asymmetric informationand so on, the big banks are reluctant to lend to SMEs. Therefore, it becomesinevitable choice for SMEs to borrow money from small and medium-sized banks(SMBs). On the other hand, SMBs are generally small scale of operation and in thestrong intervention of the local governments, it is difficult for them to line acompetitive advantage with large commercial banks to compete for customers, together with the edge and karma absolute advantages of SMBs, therefore, SMBs‘customers are the SMEs.Based on the fact that SMEs and SMBs mutually choose to develop together, thispaper analyzes the both development mechanisms in financial symbiosis theoryframework and uses measurement analysis to test it. Finally, this paper put forwardsome measures to promote both symbiotic developing. Financial symbiosis theorycontains two core parts: three symbiotic elements and symbiotic principle, they arethe main theoretical basis in this paper’s analysis. The simple multiple linearregression method is also used in this paper. This paper studies to draw the mainfollowing conclusions points:Firstly, there are two symmetric modes in China:“big banks and bigenterprises mutually select”,“SMBs and SMEs mutually select”, which is in linewith the symbiosis theory "strong–strong” and “weak–weak” modes. Theoretically,SMEs and SMBs should be integrated symmetric mutual mode, but in reality, due tothe presence of some unfavorable factors, both are still in the asymmetric reciprocitymode, but they are forwarding to the most excellent reciprocity mode.Secondly, the number of China’s SMBs is in low symbiotic density, which havenot reached the critical point of saturation. Therefore, increasing the number of SMBs can increase the symbiotic energy and will become an important way to alleviate thelack of SME financing. Finally, case analysis shows that: the symbiotic relationship between SMEs(Ningbo Bank) and SMBs is significantly stronger than that between SMEs andother financial institutions. Meanwhile, the symbiotic environment is positiverelationship to SMEs and small and medium-sized banks.
