Being the1st class branch office of China Merchants Bank, Lanzhou Branch closely combines international performance management tools and practical needs with the culture of "Human foremost, Strict management". It promotes systematic management and culture influence at the same time and has built a scientific and efficient performance management system step by step after17years’efforts and innovation. However, the competition in financing market has shown some new features and the structure as well as concepts of its staff change a lot as financial institutions increase and financial management and operational system keep reforming. Under such circumstance, certain problems have emerged in the original performance assessment program utilized by Lanzhou Branch of China Merchants and to certain degree influenced the initiative and service of its staff. This essay is intended for systematically summarizing the model and method of performance management used in Lanzhou Branch of China Merchants Bank, spotting their problems and analyzing the reasons behind.
