vinyl chloride, together with ethylene and sodium hydroxide, is one of the mostimportant chemical products in the world nowadays. It is mainly used for synthesizingPVC, which is the original type of plastic. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) can be producedon a large scale industrially and widely used.At present, the main industry production methods of polyvinyl chloride includecalcium carbide method, ethane oxychlorination, ethylene oxychlorination andacetylene and ethylene method. Because of the calcium carbide method needs lessinvestment of the factory building and automating, the method is suitable for mediumand small enterprise industrial production that also has high conversion rate ofacetylene, the most simple process and mature technology. This paper concentrates onthe design of the synthesis process of vinyl chloride monomer by calcium carbideacetylene method, gives the optimization of the vinyl chloride synthesis and refiningsection, calculates the refined process by the each plate method and determines thetheory plate number of distillation separation. The paper also focus on calculating thebalance of the materiel and energy of the whole process, designing the tower structureand the pipeline instrument flow chart, selecting equipment and calculating.In this process, a complete set of tail gas recovery system is set up, which notonly add the exhaust pressure swing adsorption device, but also introduce the mostadvanced technology of hydrogen recovery from vinyl chloride rectification tail gas.At the same time calcium carbide slag slurry acetylene gas recycling device is alsoadded, which reduced the energy consumption.
