The Research And Application Of Tea Sets’ Design Based On Zen Culture

Since very early times in China history, Zen culture has been related to Tea.And a tea set is not just a tea set, but also a reflection of the influence of Zen culture. From ancient times to now, tea sets has experience a series of changes, including feature,material, color, shape and so on. With the development of our society, tea has become a very import part of many people’s life. People drink tea, not just for the tea itself, but also for the peace and other things tea can give them. As the carrier of tea, tea sets are also changing all the time. Nowadays tea sets not only can be used to drink tea, but also can delivery more culture meanings. Base on Zen culture, this article makes a research to tea sets design.This article discusses the origin and development of Zen culture in China, and analyzes the Zen culture’s influence To “Shangshang” brand, “Dry landscape”garden, and“ Wuheyou ” hotel design. This article also makes a summary of a series of changes happened on the tea sets in the long history of Zen culture. Base on the origin and development of tea and the classification of tea sets, this article includes the five elements of a modern tea set design: function, shapes emotion, mood and culture. The article also analyzes the revelations that Zen tea culture give us on modern tea set design, they are combing of nature and human beings, returning to people’s original thought, the simplicity and so on. On those basics, this article includes a way of designing tea sets: people oriented,ecological friendly, harmony, simplicity and freedom. I also make some practice based on the design idea in this article.In short, the main achievement of this paper is that it studies the meaning of Zen culture to today’s design. In this article, I studies the influence of Zen culture to tea sets. I also include a way of design tea sets based on Zen culture. For the design of tea sets nowadays, this research is a good reference.
