The Analysis Of Influence Mechanism Between Urbanization And Environment Pollution Basing On Empirical Research Of Panel Data Of 268 Cities

Currently, China is witnessing a speed-up urbanization. The accelerating urbanization brings the economic development, meanwhile, the increasingly serious environment pollution happens. However, while the factors contributing to the pollution are expanding in the process of urbanization, the restraining factors are also accumulating. Hence, when we scan the relationship of the urbanization and the environment pollution in a dynamic and developing perspective instead of historical and static vison, the relationship would be a curve of the inverted U-shape rather than a fixed linear relationship. If the hypothesis comes true, another question comes. What leads to this kind of relationships, in another word, the inner influence mechanism between urbanization and environment pollution.In order to inquire into the two question, based on the EKC model, the paper utilizes the panel data of Chinese cities to empirically analyze the correlativity of urbanization and pollution. The result is that a inverted U-shape curve exists between urbanization and pollution, that is, along with the increasing urbanization, the environment pollution increase first and then decrease. In order to explain the reasons resulting in the relationship and analyze the inner influence mechanism between urbanization and environment pollution, the paper uses the Kaya model to decompose the environment pollution into some factors and test them empirically with the panel data. Then, the factors are classed into three effects, that is, the scale effect, the structure effect and the technology effect. Through the organic combination of the three effects and the theory of three-stage urbanization, the paper reveals the inner influence mechanism that the urbanization affects the environment pollution through the shift of the three effects in the three-stage development, at the same time, the paper explains the reason causing the correlativity of inverted U-shape curve.In the end, basing on the research of the correlativity between urbanization and environment pollution and the analysis of the factors and mechanism influencing environment pollution, the paper puts forward some policy proposal to realize the harmonious development between urbanization and environment pollution.
