The demand for the fan which is used in the factory like the mine, the tunnel, the vehicle, the ventilation for buildings and so on is steadily on the increase and higher requirements on the performance of the fan are put forward with modern industry developing and work environment improving. The fan duct is regarded as a kind of important components and its processing performance will directly affect the overall efficiency of the fan. The product produced by traditional ways including punching, stretching, split, welding, polishing etc. has many forming processes, low precision and rough surface. What’s more, it results in the lower efficiency and poor reliability of the fan. The spinning technology possesses high precision, good performance, high material utilization, simple process equipment, wide product range etc., which has widely used in the field of machinery, electronics, chemical industry, automobile, aerospace and other defense industry.The advanced manufacturing technology called spinning forming technology has been gradually used in the production of fan parts and the progress of fan duct forming is complex. In order to systematically study the coreless spinning forming technology process of fan duct, this article compares the domestic and foreign existing processing methods and analyses the processing shortage. In terms of the disadvantages in the current processing methods, the paper puts forward the process project of the coreless spinning forming technology process of fan duct and calculates and analyses some parameters in the process. After that, forecast the possible defects and reasons in the spinning process, preparing the theoretical work for the new method.This paper is based on the forming process characteristics of fan duct and sets up the finite element model in accordance with fact to verify the feasibility of the coreless spinning forming technology of fan duct. In the simulation process, the blank is regarded as deformable body and both the spinning wheel and clamp are treated rigid bodies, and then set the contact conditions, spinning motion trail, boundary conditions etc. in the expanding process to complete the finite element numerical simulation of multiply times expanding of fan duct by the software ABAQUS. On the basis of numerical simulation obtain the deforming mesh grid in different passes of the blank and the distribution rule of stress and strain and corresponding graphs each pass. Moreover, it reveals the metal plastic flow deformation mechanism of deformation area, providing for laying out the available forming process and optimizing process parameters.The corresponding spinning machine is necessary to realize the spinning processing method. Based on the action which the coreless spinning forming technology of fan duct can implement, this article draws preliminarily the overall structure of the coreless spinning equipment, and then pays more attention to design the clamping device and the wheel unit of spinning machine. At last, the simulation in three dimensions by the software of SolidWorks shows that the designed device structure can achieve the predetermined movements and conform to the design needs, which prepares conditions for the next step of the optimization design and spinning equipment manufacturing.
