With the continuous improvement of shearer’s power, new demand has been put forward for the shearer’s traction mechanism to meet its high reliability at work in coal mining industry. However, the meshing process between the traction gear and pin rail does not comply with the principle of conjugate surface meshing at present, which leads to large sliding friction force during shearer’s walking. As a result, the contact surface wears very quickly, and it seriously affects the service life of the traction mechanism. In order to improve the service life of the traction mechanism, it has important significance to study the meshing theory for this mechanism.To solve the problem of the wear cased by the non-conjugate meshing between the traction gear and pin rail, this paper mainly studies two improved methods to achieve the conjugate meshing between the traction gear and pin rail: ① Research on designing the traction mechanism in the way of deducing the conjugate tooth profile for pin rail from involute tooth profile of traction gear; ②Research on designing the traction mechanism in the way of deducing the conjugate tooth profile for traction gear from cylindrical tooth profile of pin rail;Moreover, the computational model of the wear for shearer’s traction mechanism is established and the wear of the two traction mechanisms is analyzed, which has provided some theoretical references for establishing the evaluation criterion of the wear calculation for shearer’s traction mechanism.This topic is the important component of the national major basic research program of China, and the main research work is as follows:①The conjugate tooth profile for pin rail is deduced from involute tooth profile of traction gear by using the principle of gear meshing.Basing on this, the design research and simulation analysis for the new traction mechanism are accomplished;②The conjugate tooth profile for traction gear is deduced from cylindrical tooth profile of pin rail by using the principle of gear meshing. Basing on this, finish the design research and simulation analysis for this new traction mechanism.③The computational model of the wear for shearer’s traction mechanism is established by using the formula of the tribology for calculating dimensionless wear. Meanwhile,the main factors influencing the wear of shearer’s traction mechanism has been studied. After reducing the computational model, the computation of the wear of traction gear has been finished and the curve of the wear has been created.④By analyzing the wear curve of traction gear, the abrasive resistance of traction gear for the two new traction mechanisms has been obtained, and the main factors influencing the abrasive resistance also have been found.This paper will lay some foundations for reducing the wear of shearer’s traction mechanism and improving the service life of traction gear and pin rail.
