Study On Chair Comfort Of The Elderly

With the gradually obvious trend of aging and empty-nest in China,the society pays more attention on the elderly’s living condition.However, it’s obviously that the aging service industrial in China still lags behind, especially in field of comfortable chairs for elderly, which can’t meet the elderly’s basic needs.This paper takes elderly’s chair comfort as the research object,aimed at building a elderly’s comfort chair model.This paper expansions project from four parts:study on the related theory of elderly’s comfort chair, study on the influence factors of elderly’s comfort chair,building a comfortable chair model for the elderly,design and practice.In the first part, the elderly’s characteristics were studied firstly, separately from joint size characteristics,strength characteristics,ROM and mental characteristics.Secondly, mechanism of the elderly’s chair comfort were studied, separately from physiological mechanism and mental mechanism of the elderly in seat.Finally, research methods and aided software this paper used were introduced briefly,however, every research method’s implementation steps were explained in detail,which provided technical guidance for subsequent experiment.In the second part, influence factors of elderly’s comfort chair were extracted using DE phil method firstly.Then, weight of each factor was calculated.Finally,a evaluation model calculating chairs’ s comfort degree was built using method of weighted mean.In the third part, following principles of experimental design,relation between armrest height and body posture elbow height, relation between seat height and the lower leg with foot height,relation between backrest height and sitting height,relaiton between backrest angle and back-thigh angle were studied quantificationally, according to which the elderly’s comfortable seat model was built.In the final part, a non-adjustable chair and an adjustable chair were designed, both based on the chair model built in the third part.
