Tourism is a comprehensive industry, its impacts on the environment and climate change has caused widespread concern of stakeholders. In view of this, to implement energy conservation has become essential, therefore, the scientific analysis of China’s tourism industry CO2 emissions, and provide a reference for Chinese tourism to implement a low-carbon development. By using the “bottom-up”method, this paper estimates CO2 emissions of tourism industry, its subsectors and the provincial tourism in China over the period of 1996-2014, on that base, it analyses the general characteristics of CO2 emissions. It uses the average CO2 emission to carry on the division. And this paper analyses the temporal and spatial evolution by using ArcGIS9.3 to draw the temporal and spatial pattern diagrams. Then it analyses regional differences, differences within regions and differences between regions by using the relative deprivation theory of gini coefficient decomposition method. And this paper empirical study the reasons of regional differences of CO2 emissions are formed by using STIRPAT model. At last the cubic curve model was applied to analyse the dynamic evolution relationship between CO2 emissions intensity and level of economic development and energy intensity. The results show that:(1) CO2 emissions, per capita CO2 emissions continue growing, and the CO2 emissions intensity is on the decine during 1996-2014. From northwest to southeast, the tourism CO2 emissions intensity was gradually reduced. The tourism regional differences of CO2 emissions intensity increases overall, the differences between regions are dominat, the relative deprivation of moderate to slight emission region is biggest.(2)the economic development level promotes CO2 emissions intensity on emission region of national, severe, moderate, and produces inhibition effect on slight emission region;industrial structure and energy intensity are producing positive effect on emission region of national, severe, moderate, and slight; urbanization area promotes CO2 emissions intensity on moderate emission region, and restrains CO2 emissions intensity on slight emission region.(3)the dynamic evolution relationship between economic development level and CO2 emissions intensity is N on n emission region of national, severe, slight, and the dynamic evolution relationship is inverted u-shaped curve;the dynamic evolution relationship between energy intensity and CO2 emissions intensity is inverted n-type on emission region of national, severe, and the dynamic evolution relationship is linear relation on emission region of moderate and slight. Based on these results, some differentiated of carbon reduction countermeasures are put forward.
