This paper is based on the research of National 863 Plan Project of China(No. 2012AA062002): The mining technology and equipment in large-scale open pit mines. And this paper focused on the research of parameters selection of double-toothed roller crushers in self-moving crusher stations. A method of determining its structure and working parameters was proposed. And based on the method, a new double-toothed roller crusher was designed by conforming its main parameters. Then simulation study on the arrangement of breaking teeth including the helix angle and the installation angle based on the discrete element method(DEM) was carried out. Finally, the wear and strength of newly designed breaking tooth was analyzed based on the method of DEM and FEM coupling.Based on many relevant domestic and foreign literatures, this paper summarized the research background, research meaning, research status and development tendency of the double-toothed roller crusher. Then, the composition, crushing mechanism and failure modes of the double-toothed roller crusher were introduced simply, and based on which, the study in this paper was carried out.Based on theoretical analysis and application practice of double-toothed roller crusher, the parameters of multiple types of double-toothed roller crusher were summarized and analyzed. And based on the results, a method of determining its structure and working parameters was proposed and based on the method, according to the design requirement, a new double-toothed roller crusher was designed by conforming its main parameters.And according to the selected parameters of the machine, 3D models different from the arrangement of breaking teeth were built in order to explore how the arrangement of breaking teeth influencing the crushing behavior. Crushing simulations based on DEM were carried out, which finally acquired the results of influence of helix angel and installing angel on crushing behavior.As for the newly designed breaking tooth, its main failure modes were wear and breaking. Wear study was carried out by DEM, which finally showed the areas of seriously wear out. Strength analysis was carried out by FEM, which finally showed that the strength of breaking teeth meet the demand and provided some reference for structure optimization of breaking tooth.This paper has proposed a method which could be used to determine the structure and parameters of the double-toothed roller crusher. The influence on crushing behavior of helix angel and installing angel was gotten by DEM and the wear and strength of the newly designed breaking tooth was acquired. The study of this paper provided some reference and a feasible approach for study of the double-toothed roller crusher.
