With the continuous improvement of computer technology, virtual prototype technology has been rapidly developed. Due to its prominent advantages in shortening product development cycle and design costs, improving product design quality and then enhancing the market competitiveness of the enterprise, the technology is widely used in automotive industry.The design and simulation analysis of golf course dump semi-trailer with the enterprise was mainly carried on in this paper. Based on the design specification of dump truck, and given the engineering practice of company project, the overall structure and parts design of dump semi-trailer was completed, and the three-dimensional model of dump semi-trailer was established with CAXA 3D design software. Kinematics and dynamics simulation analysis of the lifting mechanism were conducted through ADAMS simulation software, whose results suggested that the dump process of lifting mechanism could be completed smoothly, and the largest demotion angle 45°, oil cylinder stroke 305mm and its thrust 61885.9N were all in line with the design requirements. The frame static analysis under full load condition and unloading condition was accomplished by ANSYS Workbench software, which drew a conclusion that the strength and stiffness of frame under the two conditions were satisfied the requirements. Finally the prototype of dump semi-trailer was completed to prepare for the follow-up test.Combined with three-dimensional modeling technology, virtual prototype simulation and finite element analysis technology in design and simulation analysis of dump semi-trailer, the rationality and feasibility of the design has been validated. Such an application of using large engineering software in product design and development has a certain reference significance and practical engineering value to the enterprise.
