Chlorine is a versatile hazardous chemical in the production, storage, using process, the slightest mistake is likely to cause leakage diffusion accident. Due to its toxic properties, the accident will result in property damage and casualties. Therefore, the study on the diffusion process of chlorine gas leakage is particularly important, and it will have some theoretical guidance and practical significance for the prevention and rescue of the leakage of chlorine.As a typical heavy gas, chlorine follows the dispersion law in the diffusion process. In reality, the spread of the chlorine gas is very complex and needs to take into account many factors. Given the toxic effects of chlorine and field experimental uncertainty, this subject chooses the numerical simulation on studying leakage and diffusion about the chemical enterprise storage plant of chlorine. This paper make a simulation analysis based on software FLUENT about chlorine tank gap leakage occurred inside the workshop. According to different conditions, it is concluded that the rule of chlorine gas diffusion under the corresponding conditions. Reasonable suggestions are put forward for the prevention and emergency treatment of leakage accident.The main research work and analysis results are as follows:(1) The domestic and foreign research status of poisonous gas diffusion is summarized, and the applicable scope and feasibility of different research methods are compared. According to the realistic condition, the main research way of this subject is to choose the numerical simulation based on software FLUENT 15.0. The model and mesh is established on the basis of chlorine storage workshop of chemical enterprises. Setting the initial conditions in conformity with the reality, and simulation analysis of chlorine leakage and diffusion is carried out for different time periods, different leakage direction, wind speed in different environments, different source of the leak case.(2) Data processing and analysis of simulation results under different conditions found that: chlorine gas reaches the stability in the natural state space within a certain period of time; under the influence of gravity, the diffusion range of the upper discharge chute is larger than the lower leakage openings; with the increase of the wind speed, the dilution of the concentration of chlorine gas in the environment is more and more obvious; tank leakage range is first increased and then decreased trend away from the export from far to near, between the tank of gas diffusion is blocking effect. Hazardous areas are divided based on the analysis results, and the chlorine leakage accident prevention and emergency response is provided guidance.
