As a significant transport equipment of coal mine, dispatch winch’s structure performance directly influences the safety and reliability of the whole production system. With the increasing of large and medium sized coal mine and using of large-scale fully mechanized mining equipments, the requests that the winch should have stronger working ability, high work efficiency, longservice life are put forward. Due to the limitation of transmission principle and structure, however, traditional JD type dispatch winch is difficult to adapt the narrow working space in the coal mine well; moreover, it can not meet the needs of large-scale mechanized mining equipment relocation work. Considering these deficiencies of the traditional JD type dispatch winch, and aming at the transmission principle and structure, one novel type mining dispatch winch is designed and its dynamic characteristics are studied in this investigated. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, taking the JDC-110 dispatch winch as the studying object, the transmission system and overall structure are designed, including the transmission system, operating mechanism, brake system and base based on modern design techniques. The realization process of the start-up phase, working state and braking stage are detailed. Components and virtual assembly are completed by Pro/E softwore, which lay the foundation for subsequent analysis.Secondly, based on the Pro/E and ADAMS dynamic simulation softwares, the virtual prototype model of the JDC-110 dispatch winch is established. Based on this prototype model, kinematic and dynamic characteristics anlysis of the transmission system are proposed under different load conditions, namely, with load and variable load torque.Thirdly, the principle of the finite element contact analysis is introduced firstly, then the static analysis and modal analysis for the transmission system of the JDC-110 dispatch winch are presented, and the contact stresses of all gears are obtained. Moreover, natural frequencies and mode shapes of the transmission system are received, and the comparision of the natural frequencies and the mesh frequencies, as well as the shaft frequencies, indicates that the design of the transmission system is reasonable. Finally, through analyzing the static characteristics of the reducer box of the transmission system using the finite element software ANSYS, the stress field and displacement field are displayed directly to proofread reducer’s stiffness and stress. Furthermore, the modal analysis of the reducer box is conducted to obtain its natural frequencies and mode shapes. In this way, the reducer box is verified and can meet the design requirements from static and dynamics aspects. The proposed novel dispatch winch in this paper is designed from the traditional JD type mining dispatch winch. The results demonstrate that its structure and performance can meet the design requirements well, as well as the relocation traction requirements of large-scale mining equipment working in a narrow space, which provide a miningful reference for the design and optimization of coal mining dispatch winchs.
