Objective Study on the extraction,purification and quality standards of swertiamarin.which is the major components of Herba Swertiae Davidi.so as to obtain steady and high purity products. Furthermore, Study the quality standards of the swertiamarin in order to get a good quality control.Methods-Using the content of swertiamarin and extracting ratio as evaluating indexs.we selected the optimum extracting condition by orthogonal;purify the extract of Herba Swertiae Davidi in order to get a higher purity product,and the swertiamarin in the extract were investigated by HPLC.Done by TLC Identification;using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) determination,and methods of inspection. Results The optimum extracting condition was:50% ethanol immersion 0.5 hours,heating to extract two times,adding alcohol for 10,8 times and extracting for 1.5,1.0 hours.The technological conditions of adsorption and desorption for Herba Swertiae Davidi were as follows:the concentration of extract 0.4g/ml polyphenol sample volume is 1.5times of the bed volume(BV),at pH 6.0 and a flow rate of 2 BV/h at room temperature; Diameter and height ratio is 1:6.Then use 2 times BV of distilled water for purification Whereas the optimal desorption conditions are found to be a flow rate of 8 BV/h using 4 times BV of 30% ethanol for elution.Herba Swertiae Davidi were indentified by TLC.Swertiamarin determination is feasible and good repeatability.Conclusion The procedure was reasonable and pratical.the quality standards was set up.
