In the past20years, Building Information Model (BIM) technology is improvedconstantly, and widely applied in each stage of the construction industry. On the basisof this, the four dimensions of schedule control based on BIM technology in recentyears, the five dimensions of cost control, and the application of more dimensions inbuilding design, construction, operation and maintenance stages are used. Alsodeveloping the project management which can share and exchange information basedon BIM model. However, according to a review of the literature, in the construction sitemanagement, there is still a fault of real-time information exchanging and sharing basedon the real environment. Unable to achieve a specific environment to implement BIMsimulation and application of information technology, and on this basis, makereasonable decisions, based on the real environment. Therefore, this paper puts forwardthe conceptual framework based on BIM and AR technology in the engineering field inorder to fill the fault. AR technology can be real-time and accurate to overlay the virtualmodel information in the real environment. And the technology is based on the opensource development kit ARToolKit library, its sharing character is very good, cancombine with BIM technology very well, gives full play to the advantages of both.In this paper, the conceptual framework can be divided into three main modules,the design module, the construction module, and the operation and maintenance module.Through the elaboration of three modules which contain information and functions tofurther improve the information flow of system framework, and through organizing theimplementation process of system, to clear overall architecture of the system. At thedesign stage, through the information display collecting table and the managementinformation collection table to set information column item son model for specificproject. In the construction phase, in view of the specific application process, the projectmanager perfect project information and realize the change of information and thecorrection of model, and apply the display model to finish the construction managementtask. In the operation and maintenance phase, the information model which perfectsafter the construction stage is transformed and stored in the related operation andmaintenance database, and according to the demand of the operational phase optimizethe display information, realize the full circulation of information flow in the wholebuilding life cycle. Finally through the contrast of reinforcement scheme in the method of imagerecognition, verifies some parts of function’s practicability and validity of theconstruction module of the system architecture in the construction site. Thus indirectlyverifies the suitability and effectiveness of the system function, and from a certainextent, reflects the value of the system implementation. And based on the summary ofthe system, find out existing problems and the need to improve the system, provide thesubsequent researchers and system developers with the reference. This article alsoprovides a train of thought for subsequent research, introduces the direction and contentof further study.
