As the highway tunnel construction has the distinguishing features of long mileage,complex construction environment, multiple operating units and the shortage ofadministrative personnel, So keepping abreast of construction progress and constructionpersonnel present status of each tunnel project are the effective means to ensure constructionquality and construction progress. In response to modern highway construction informationand intelligence management requirements, a kind of tunnel personnel positioning systembased on ZigBee technology has been designed and implemented in the paper. The system canhelp managers to monitor the progress of the tunnel construction, it can also facilitate themanagers to determine accidents regional and the number of trapped personnel when a tunnelaccident or emergency. This is important to take timely and effective rescue measures. Themain contents of this paper are as follows:1. According to the characteristics and requirements of the tunnel personnel positioning,the features of several common wireless location technologies and location algorithm hasbeen comparative analysed. ZigBee wireless location technology and RSSI-based tunnelpersonnel location algorithm used in the system were carried out.2. Taking the CC2530chip as the core, the ZigBee tunnel personnel positioning systemhas been desigened as well as the data point and the reference point. By linearly installingZigBee base station in the tunnel, the wireless network covers the whole tunnel. It can help usto achiev the real time positioning of personnel, and the positioning accuracy can reach1m.3. In view of systematic management requirements, used modular design concept todevelop the positioning data acquisition system and the tunnel personnel positioningmanagement system based on C/S architecture. Realized the remote management of systemparameter settings, wireless communications and positioning data.4. Completed the system hardware and software deployment and debugging, andthrough field tests, analyzed the factors and reasons affecting the positioning accuracy of thesystem, discussed ways to reduce the systematic positioning errors.The achievements of this paper have important practical engineering value. The systemapplication can effectively improve tunnel safety management level. And it can also providea reference for the modernization and informationization engineering management system.
