The study of signalized intersection traffic flow plays an extremely important role inurban road traffic system. If the intersection’s signal timing is unscientific and the right ofway is not clear enough, it will cause intersection blocked, and even lead to traffic accidents.In the end, it will bring a huge adverse impact on the entire road network. Therefore, toevaluate the urban signalized intersections’ improvement strategies, and to improve thecapacity of the intersection based on the traffic’s organization and management are effectivemethods to ease the serious traffic problems.The thesis analyzes the evaluation framework of urban signalized intersections andexplicitly lists the process of intersection improvement strategies evaluation, which includesdefining evaluation norm, filtering improvement strategies, analyzing improvement strategiesand evaluating strategies. This paper selects the delay, average queue length, noise pollutionand other norms as the evaluation norm, chooses the traffic simulation method as the analysismethod and opts Analytic Hierarchy Process as the evaluation method. After analyzing andstudying the theory of signalized intersection traffic flow, the thesis analyzes specificexamples by using the method of simulation analysis. Choosing a typical signalizedintersection as the research object, by using traffic simulation technology to analysis theexisting strategy and improving strategies in the set of three different traffic demands to getthe value of evaluation norms as the support to the strategy evaluation. Use AnalyticHierarchy Process to compare the strategies based on the simulation results. Finally this papergives the evaluation results of each strategy, then picks out the optimal intersection’sstrategies in different traffic demands and optimizes the intersection effectively.
