In recent years, as the transportation informatization process moving forward, trafficmonitoring has become an integral part of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for Chinaexpressway. In this dissertation, with regard to the problems occurred in heterogeneoussystem integration and traffic monitoring data sharing for expressway ITS, a suit of trafficmonitoring data elements were devised according to standard Basic data elements oftransportation information (No. JT/T697). Then, a traffic monitoring data ontology wasproposed by extracting the semantic ingredients in data elements. On this basis, a frameworkfor ontology mapping, reasoning and query platform for this ontology was sketched, and aJBoss based expressway monitoring system portal for Xi’an urban expressway network wasdeveloped. These research results are applicable in integration of heterogeneous ITS for Chinaexpressway, to promote the ability of common understanding and adequate sharing ofmulti-sourced traffic monitoring data among ITS, and will play an important role in theinformatization process of China expressway. In detail, the research work and achievementsof this dissertation are as follows:(1) Basing onthe interpretation and semantic analysis of standard Basic Data Elementsof Transportation Information (JT/T697), we proposed the supplementary requirements ofthe data elements of traffic monitoring and analyzed the expressway network trafficmonitoring data in aspects both dynamically and staticly. Based on above, the data elementsof traffic monitoring according to theJT/T697standard is designed,and the traffic monitoringdata semantics ingredients extraction and semantics modeling are performedin the formoftraffic monitoring data element.(2) We proposed a kind of frame which is adapt to ontology mapping and reasoning andsearchingfor expressway network traffic monitoring data, verified the feasibility of thismethod technically by taking the traffic monitoring data of the regional expressway networkin Xi’an as data sources.The implementation details are summarized in detail of the analysisof traffic monitoring data, mapping rules designed, reasoning andsearching.(3) With the use of the results of the expressway network monitoring data ontologymapping and reasoning and searching, Basing on JBoss application server of J2EE framework,taking the expressway network traffic monitoring data of the regional expresswaynetwork in Xi’an as an application scenario, the traffic monitoring system is developed andthe technical feasibility of this framework is verified.
