With the continuous development of China’s shipping industry,the reliabilityrequirements of ship’s main propulsion system are becoming higher and higher. Because thepower source of the ship is ship’s main propulsion system, so ship’s main propulsion systemfailure will directly affect the normal navigation of ships main engine, and even endangerhuman life and property. However,the ship main engine is an important equipment of mainpropulsion system, researches of ship main engine have become one of the hottest spots oftoday’s ships reliability study.The article first introduces the research status and development trend of domestic andforeign of the ship main engine system, and then focuses on analyzing methods andprinciples of the fuzzy fault tree in the reliability analysis methods.Because of thecomplexity of the ship main engine’s failure, if there is a host component reliabilityparameters, it can be analyzed through simulation, if it is in the absence of these data, theparameters can be evaluated by the views of Expert Group in ship areas.The article uses Monte Carlo method to simulate the reliability of the each subsystemof the ship main engine system by VC++and MATLAB programming, and gets the averagelife and the failure rate of each subsystem, and realizes analog output of the failure ratecurve within the maximum average life time about each subsystem of the ship main enginesystem. It provides a good reference to predict the average life of each subsystem of the shipmain engine system.In order to eliminate the deviates from the views of the expert group, the articleproposes a clustering fuzzy comprehensive assessment, and introduces triangular fuzzynumbers to characterize the probability of an event,and analyses the fault indicators of eachlayers in fault tree, it also excludes serious deviation data based on Clustering and gives thefinal comprehensive evaluation. Finally,it uses VC++and MATLAB programming softwareto realize the clustering fuzzy comprehensive evaluation system based on these methods,introducing the fuzzy fault tree module of the system, and then use the system to analyze"host smoke emissions color exception "failure, At last,it uses the system to give clusteringfuzzy comprehensive evaluation about the ship main engine system.Thereby,it can offer thereliability of the host ship and provide security for the navigation of the ship.
