Construction project duration extension is a phenomenon in the developmentprocess of China’s construction projects,which leads not only to disrupt the rhythm ofconstruction and development, but also to increased costs and some quality problems.Especially in background of construction engineering rapid extends, projects oftenencounter delay problems, domestic research on delay factors is not so deep.In that case,this paper studies delayed factors in the major construction projects and constructstheevaluation model based on the principal component analysis.Finally, we get re-namedprincipal component factors and the corresponding preventive measuresthrough the casestudy.This paper uses literature research, expert interviews, questionnaire surveyresearch, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method, empirical analysis. Firstof all,reviewingproject-related research and theoretical extension of the sort andanalyzing the main points of the two main schools of foreign studies onextension.Then,compareto explain the extension of the domestic aspects of the researchpoint of view, to get the impact of China Construction Engineering factors andextension component model theoretical groundwork done.Then the article describes the basic theory, which involved construction projectmanagement theory, construction project schedule management theory, and constructiondelay theory.Studyingthe theory lays the theoretical foundation for the later analysis ofthe project, determining Evaluation Model analysis methods.Ultimately, the principalcomponent analysis is selected as the analytical method in this paper. Again, identifyingconstruction delay factors initially, combined with expert interviews and ultimatelydetermining the factors affecting the construction extension table provides the basis forthe later analyzing. Again, the article introduces the theory of principal componentanalysis and principal component analysis evaluation model based on the constructionprocess, namely the effective variable screening, testing the applicability of principalcomponent analysis to determine the number of principal components factordetermining the principal component factor the load distribution and principalcomponent factor expression, principal component factor rename and interpretation.Again, the article combines39factors previously obtained in an extension of theevaluation model case to demonstrate the specific application process and ultimately get the evaluation model and explains the seven principal components factors extension thatconstruction site management factors, communication management factors, design andmanagement factors, project management preparation factors, cost management factors,resource management factors, quality management factors.Finally, based on seven main components deferred in evaluation model, obtainingan extension of targeted measures to improve project proposed for each of the principalcomponents factors. These measures are based on delayed factors which are got fromChinese major construction projects. It aims not only to improve project managementresearch system, and to provide good guidance suggestion for the project managers,who can use these measures to improve the status of the project extension.
