With the development of power grid, power grid operation risk is also increasing.The traditional analysis method cannot meet the requirements of the development ofthe power grid. Power grid operation risk assessment based on the uncertainty hasbecome the focus in the research of the development of the modern intelligent electricgrid technology. At present, the related research at home and abroad is still in theinitial stage. In this paper, the theory and method of power grid operation riskassessment are systematically analyzed.Using the risk theory evaluate power grid operation risk provided theoreticalbasis for the research of power grid operation risk. Power grid operation riskassessment can find out the weak points and area and then put forward the safeoperation and improvement measures. It can effectively inhibit the happening of theaccident.This paper built the index system of power grid operation risk. The index systemtook power grid equipment, transformer substation, and power grid in one operationstate as the evaluation object. Then it analyzed risk factors of different objects andgave the comprehensive and accurate power grid operation risk assessment. Then thispaper put forward the calculation method of power grid operation risk indexes.Power grid operation risk and the probability of component outage had a closerelation to load level. This paper studied the sensitivity of power grid operation riskand verified the risk assessment method and index system based on risk theory inIEEE-RTS79system.
