With the increase of electricity energy demanded,the reliability of distribution systemhas been draw more and more attention.In order to improve the reliability of distributionsystem, the automation level of it is very important.It is very important to design a kind ofhigh performance feeder terminal unit (FTU) which makes a great role in distribution system.Based on the analysis of the structure of distribution system and the model of feedersystem,a kind of master station control FTU is proposed.After the analysis and comparison ofsome kind of FTU which is based on chip microcomputer or DPS,a kind of new FTU which isbased on ARM and Ethernet communication is proposed.It is the main function of FTU thatgrid parameters real-time monitoring,switch and the power state monitoring and the remotemaster station communication.The hardware circuit design is based on S3C2440core,it hasstrong control function,fast operation and great on-chip resources.The software system designis based on Linux operating system.It is easy to transplant, supports network communicationand has a short development cycle.Results of the experiment show that the design is feasible.It can achieve the functions ofFTU.
