The development of national economy and improvement of People's standard of living bring higher require to the supply of electric power. The Distribution Network is very weak in our country at present. In order to strengthen its construction and alteration, the Distribution Automation (DA) must be carried into execution. Communication is very important in DA and it is the key of success of DA. Ethernet is a mainstream of the development of communication system of DA, therefore the research to it has great significance.Compared with other control network, Ethernet has many strongpoints, such as higher reliability, faster speed, mature technology, best supported, better interlinkage and opening, lower device cost, more transmission medium supported, better development potential, easier connection with Internet. Presently, Ethernet has already a wide application in industry control , and has been established as the standard of industry control.Presently, Ethernet has been widely applied in the substation layer of DA system,but it is rarely used in terminal devices of DA. The work of this dissertation is to apply Ethernet to the terminal devices of DA for the purpose of improving the capabilities of terminal devices.The terminal devices of DA(RTU) embodies FTU,DTU and TTU. RTU is the basic unit of DA system, and its function, number, precision and reliability of data collection affect the reliability of DA system directly.The number of terminal nodes of DA network is very huge and very dispersed. Under such circumstance, the communication manners used formerly, such as optical communication, distribution line data carrier wave, LONWORKS field bus, RS-232 and RS-485 serial communication have their connatural defects which have difficulties to satisfy the requires of DA.Fortunately, Ethernet brings us the hope.At the begin moment, After a mass of investigation,research and compare, IP2022 ,an excellent embedded Ethernet chip was chosen and a design project for communication module of new style hardware platform was put forward successfully. The use of Ethernet brings the terminal devices of DA faster speed, better reliability and expansibility.This communication module can connect with 10M Ethernet directly, can provide multi communication interfaces simultaneously, such as Ethernet, RS-232,RS-485. It can adapt to different run styles, can lessen interfaces to reduce product's cost and improve product's adaptability and flexibility. It can realize Ethernet TCP/IP protocol easily, can connect with background system directly, can also interlink other devices conveniently, and it may also spread other applications in the future. The template uses a new era embedded micro-controller which can dispose 30 millions instructions per second. Its fast speed ensures communication reliability and easier control, and the load of CPU is low. The template has also the functions of power and software self-recovery. The program adopts modular design. The powerful reference debug aids makes settting setpoint by use of multi communication styles possible, and can process real time monitor at local places.The indexs of the new hardware platform reach the GB's require of terminal devices of DA after comprehensive test, and will be used in the real field.
