| China s east coast region is an economically-developed and populated area. Withthe development of economy, large scale projects such as port terminals, channels andpromoting silting enclosure has reached the peak of development.Volume of wave overtopping refers to the water volume that passes over the crest ofbreakwater. At present, allowable volume of wave overtopping is often seen as the standard todetermine the breakwater height in the design of coastal engineering in our country (such asbreakwater, revetment etc.). Many scholars have done some researches on this problem andprovided numbers of methods to compute average value of overtopping volume. Waveovertopping standards of America, Japan, Netherlands and China were collected in this paper.Most of them were proposed based on physical experiments. Great difference exists because of thedifferent influence factors.In recent years, promoting silting enclosure reaches the peak time, especially in the estuaryarea of Yangtze River. The natural conditions of this area is poor but there are rich hydrologicalobservation data. This paper chose the fifth stage of Yangtze River HengSha as an example toinvestigate the overtopping volume. First, this paper analyzed the measured data to screen outreasonable date. Second, the numerical simulation of large area Yangtze River estuary was carriedout by MIKE21SW module to simulate the storm surge. And in little area SWASH were used tosimulate wave propagation, the models were validated by measured data, indicated that the wellpracticability of SWASH model. At last, this paper analyzed the overtopping observed data, andcompared the theoretical equation, got the initial conclusions. |
