With the increasing environmental pollution and energy crisis are becoming more and more serious, people focus on the development and utilization of renewable energy. As an inexhaustible, clean and non-polluting renewable energy, solar is got the favored nations of countries. Although Photovoltaic (PV) technology has become more and more mature, the higher cost of PV and low efficiency problem are still existed. The study was carried out for improving the efficiency of PV power generation.First, based on the equivalent circuit of PV cells, build a model in Simulink to study the effects of temperature and light intensity output characteristics of PV cells. To track the PV cells’maximum power point quickly when the temperature and the light intensity changing, improving the PV energy conversion efficiency, compare the principles of the common methods MPPT and build simulation model. An improved method of MPPT is carried out in this paper, comparing with the conventional methods, the results show the improved control algorithm has the higher tracking accuracy, good stability.Power generating capacity of PV modules and mounting orientation, choosing the tilted and azimuth angles reasonably can improve the power efficiency of PV modules. Therefore, this paper designed and developed a set of PV power generation efficiency detection system, using MFC development tools to design software monitoring interface. The system is composed of12PV modules, using capacitor charge and discharge method to scan the volt ampere characteristic of PV and find the maximum power point. According to the instructions of PC to collect the maximum power point voltage, current, power and other data regularly, written into the database. Compare the real-time output power, daily total generating capacity and monthly total generating capacity of PV modules base on nearly a year data. At last, giving a suggestion for Nanning area’ best installation tilted and azimuth angles.The hardware and software of dual-axis solar tracking system have been designed in this paper, the hardware design mainly include power chip, photoelectric sensor, wind speed sensor and limit switches, the motor drive circuit; The software include the main program, system initialization program, optical tracking program. Getting the relevant power generation data by using dual-axis tracking system, to be compared with a fixed PV system (face to south and22°tilted angles). The results show that the design of the dual-axis tracking system’ efficiency is improved by nearly35%compared with the fixed PV system, having a certain reference value on the practical application.
